The changing structure of patriarchal women within customary law communities has become an intriguing issue in the context of Kampung Kuta in Ciamis, where the indigenous people of Kampung Kuta remain steadfast in upholding their principles and cultural customs. This research aims to analyze gender justice in women's rights as part of the customary community in Kampung Kuta, to provide a deeper understanding of gender dynamics within customary law communities and offer recommendations to promote gender equality in traditional cultural contexts. The research employs a qualitative methodology, utilizing a direct field research approach to engage with the customary law community of Kampung Kuta in Ciamis. This approach enables researchers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the community's experiences and perspectives regarding changes in patriarchal structures and gender roles within their culture. The findings indicate that the position of women in the Customary Community of Kampung Kuta Ciamis aligns with the gender equality agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A gradual reconstruction of patriarchal culture has created greater opportunities for women to assume roles as rights holders and contributors within the customary law community. This reconstruction is evident in women's roles as economic supporters of their households, their rights in determining family size, and the equitable distribution of inheritance between male and female offspring. The research also provides new insights into gender transformation within traditional cultural contexts, particularly in the customary law community of Kampung Kuta, highlighting changes in patriarchal structures and their contribution to understanding how traditional cultures adapt to the demands of gender equality. Overall, the research emphasizes that despite significant challenges, positive changes are underway in achieving gender equality within the customary law community of Kampung Kuta. These changes lay a foundation for further progress toward broader gender equality in traditional cultural settings.
